Solution-focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that combines elements of psychotherapy and hypnosis to help you achieve your goals and overcome challenges.

Unlike traditional hypnotherapy, it focuses on present and future solutions rather than delving into past issues. This approach encourages you to envision your preferred future and work towards it by accessing a relaxed, trance-like state where positive suggestions can be made to the subconscious mind.

By emphasising your strengths, resources, and achievable steps, Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy will empower you to make lasting changes in your thoughts, behaviour and emotions.


 

Will it work for me? Can I be hypnotised?

Hypnotherapy can be effective for many people, however its success depends on your openness to the process and what you’re hoping to achieve.

If you’re generally open-minded, can focus, and are willing to relax and let go, hypnotherapy has a good chance of working for you. It's about being able to engage your imagination and be receptive to positive suggestions.

 

Hypnosis feels like a deep state of relaxation, much like being absorbed in a daydream or getting lost in a good book. I will guide you into this state and work with you to address specific goals, whether that’s reducing stress, breaking a habit, or overcoming a fear. If you're willing to try, it’s likely you'll find the experience beneficial!



How many sessions will I need?
 

The number of sessions needed in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy can vary depending on your individual goals, the nature of the issue and your progress.

However, a general guideline is:

  • Simple phobias (snakes, spiders, deep water, driving)
    4 sessions

  • Smoking Cessation 
    One 90 minute session
    Complex phobias (Agoraphobia, Claustrophobia, Panic Disorder
    Often 8-10 sessions

  • Mental health (stress, general anxiety)
    Often 6-12 sessions 

  • Deep-rooted challenges (trauma, severe anxiety, long-standing habits)
    May require more than 12 sessions, but progress is often noticeable along the way.

     

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy aims to be brief, meaning the focus is on achieving results in the shortest time possible by concentrating on your strengths and future goals rather than dwelling on the past. I will regularly assess your progress and sessions can be adjusted based on how you're responding.

What can I expect
in a session?


Initial Consultation
We begin our journey together with an initial 30 minute consultation about your goals, what you want to achieve and any challenges you’re facing. The focus is on your present situation and the future you want to create, rather than delving into past traumas or problems.
In this session, I will take certain information from you to ensure that our hypnotherapy sessions are safe, focused and effective, making the overall process more meaningful and beneficial for you.
We will also look at the science of why you are feeling the way you are and how the brain works. 
I will give you a copy of my Hypnosis Audio Recording which is around 30 minutes. The best time to listen to this is at night when it's time to go to sleep. This will support the work we are doing together and you will notice a differerence. 
We will book in your next appointment for the following week.

 

Our Next Sessions
The following sessions will be around one hour as we start to delve into how we can help you. I will guide you through questions designed to help you visualise your ideal outcomes and identify your strengths and resources. This part helps set the direction for your progress.

After the discussion, you’ll be guided into a state of deep relaxation, often referred to as trance. This isn’t like what you see in films; it’s more akin to daydreaming or being deeply absorbed in a pleasant experience. You’ll remain fully aware and in control, just deeply relaxed and focused.

While you’re in this relaxed state, I will use positive suggestions tailored to your goals. This part helps you to reframe your mindset, reinforce your strengths and encourage the changes you want to make.

 

I will then gently guide you out of the trance, bringing you back to full awareness. You’ll likely feel calm, refreshed and relaxed.
 

Throughout the process, you remain in control, and your experience will be comfortable and empowering. Most people find the sessions relaxing and enjoyable with a clear sense of progress toward their goals.
